Passion [pash-uh n] – noun
A strong or extravagant fondness, enthusiasm, or desire for anything: a passion for dance. an intense emotion compelling action. Synonyms: love, fervor, ardor, enthusiasm, zeal.
The Silvie Passion tradition was started by Silverado Director Stacy Jennings when she began teaching at Cy-Creek. “I wanted to share how I felt about dance with my new team,” stated Ms. Jennings.
Prior to each football game, Silvies place notes into the Passion Cup, recognizing team members for their hard work and enthusiasm noticed throughout the week. These notes are read prior to each game. “This builds friendship and respect among the dancers,” said Stacy Miller, Assistant Director.
Silvies are awarded a passion shirt, designed annually by Stacy Jennings. “Getting your passion shirt is a signficant accomplishment and an honor,” stated Ms. Jennings. “This means you have proven yourself to the directors and have shown them that you have passion, meaning you have drive, commitment, and have gone above and beyond the call of duty.”
At the end of the competition season, the girls celebrate their awards, accomplishments and their passion for dance at a Passion Ceremony. What happens at the ceremony, stays at the ceremony...it's top secret!
